A card charge only fires when the customer agreed to it in writing at checkout and a usable card is on file for that exact amount and date; anything else falls back to a pay link and tells your team a balance needs a human

The customer gets a reminder email three days before any scheduled card charge, so nobody is surprised by a charge they agreed to weeks earlier
