Open Play

Buy nine open plays, the tenth is on the club

A punch card for the players who pay their way in each time. You pick the number, you pick which sessions count, and the members who keep coming back see their progress fill up in the app. The free session arrives on its own, with no code to remember and nothing for your front desk to look up.

How it works

  • You set the number. One field on your open play setup. Nine, five, whatever suits your club. Leave it blank and the punch card stays off.
  • You choose which sessions count. A switch on each event, on a whole series, or as the default for an event type, so your $5 morning sessions can sit outside the card while your regular open play counts.
  • Only sessions a player actually paid for count. A seat covered by a membership, comped by staff, or paid with a guest pass does not earn a punch, because the card is there to reward the people buying their way in.
  • The reward arrives by itself. When the number is reached, the member gets a free open play pass and an email telling them so. Nobody has to issue it.
  • Members watch it fill. Progress shows on the Perks screen in the app, beside their passes and credits, so the next visit has a reason attached to it.

The rules underneath, because this is money

A refund takes the punch back, not the reward

If a session is refunded or a check-in is undone, that punch comes off the card. But a free session you have already given a member is theirs. Taking back a reward somebody can already see is worse than the cost of having given it, so the card never claws one back.

Moving a member does not cost them their place

When your staff move somebody from one session to another, their money moves with them and so does their progress. They earn the punch by playing the session they were moved to.

The free session is for open play, and only for them

An earned pass works on open play, not on court bookings or programs, and it cannot be handed to somebody else. It expires twelve months after it is earned, and the member can see that date from the moment it lands.

Your desk can apply it

A member who cannot sign in still gets their free session. Staff apply the earned pass at check-in the same way they apply any other pass.

Worth knowing before you turn it on

Most clubs should check their own numbers first

If most of your open play is already covered by memberships, a paid-only card reaches fewer people than you would guess. It is worth looking at how many of your check-ins were paid on the day before you pick the number, because that is what decides whether nine is a short road or a long one at your club.

Off until you set a number

Nothing changes for your club or your members until you put a number in. There is no default card running quietly in the background.
