Sell a paddle, remember the free cover
Program the accessory that comes free with a product, and the register reminds the associate to hand it over after the sale.
Set it up once, not once per product
Under Point of Sale, Included Freebies, create a freebie: name it, pick the product that is given, say how many and whether that is per item bought or one per sale, then tick every product it comes with. One freebie can cover a whole range of paddles, and when you change the terms later, every product it is attached to follows. You never re-enter it product by product.
- Name it the way your staff would say it, for example Free paddle cover.
- Pick what is given, how many, and whether it scales per item or is one per sale.
- Tick the products it comes with. Add a start and end date if it is seasonal.
The register does the remembering
The product tile says Free Paddle cover before anything is rung. Ring the paddle and the cart shows an Includes 1 x Paddle cover line at $0.00. Take the payment and the confirmation says, in plain words, Give the customer: 1 x Paddle cover. That last moment is the whole point: it is the step that gets forgotten once the card has gone through.
The receipt records it too, printed and emailed, as included free, so a customer reading it knows the accessory was part of the purchase rather than a billing mistake.
Your stock keeps up on its own
Giving the cover draws it down like a sale would, so your count stays honest. Return the paddle through Transactions, Return items, and the cover goes back too, worked out from what the sale actually took rather than what the freebie says today, so editing a freebie after a sale never corrupts an old refund. Running promo swag you do not count? One switch turns the stock draw-down off and everything else still works.
It never gets in a customer's way
If the accessory has run out, the sale still goes through, and nobody is ever blocked from buying. At a counter the register tells the associate there is none to give, so they can say something or fetch one from the back. Online, where nobody is there to explain, the order is given only what the shelf holds and nothing at all if it holds nothing, because promising an accessory you cannot hand over is a promise the store cannot keep. And a customer who does not want the cover can have it taken off that sale with one tap, so nothing is decremented and nothing is promised.
Everywhere you sell
The register, the app register, self-checkout, and online orders all give the freebie, because the decision about what is free is made on our servers rather than on the screen. A freebie that has already gone out on a sale cannot be deleted, since past receipts point at it, you pause it instead.
It is a club setting you turn on when you are ready, and it changes nothing about your existing products or prices until you do. Included with Point of Sale.
